The Difference Between Soft and Hard Skills #7

As we all know, skill means the ability to perform a task, and the ability is either innate or acquired. In addition, there are two types of skills, which is hard skills and soft skills. We unintentionally use them to meet our needs and requirements of any task. Some people believe that hard skills are more difficult than the soft skills, but the opposite is true.

Now let us discuss the difference between hard skills and soft skills:

Firstly, hard skills are the professional way to deal with people or to do tasks. They are easy to quantify or learn, because you can gain them through learning in a typical classroom or in any training. Furthermore, hard skills are often found on the resume or the job's portfolio.   On the other hand, soft skills are hard to realize and evaluate, because people use them unconsciously. It also called interpersonal skills that people use to interact in their relationships. These skills include listening skills, communication skills personality traits, your attitude, and personal attributes. The advantages of both types of skills are that they let you communicate with different types of people from your boss in the workplace to your close friend. On the other hand, they have some negative points. For example, hard skills are very restricted and need concentration. While the soft skills are hard to get them through any classes, and instead need your experiences.

Talking about myself, I found that I am much stronger on the hard skills rather than soft skills, but I am trying to improve these skills with my personality. Moreover, the educational process here in Qatar always emphasize the hard skills on the curriculum by teaching the student how to write academic essays, articles, and reports, but the soft skills, they leave for the students as an optional choice, to learn by themselves.
