I explored a leisure and educational zone that emerged out of a unique concept of relying on local production in Qatar after the blockade. Baladna Farm is Qatar’s best known and biggest dairy and meat producer. It is situated outside the town of Al Khor just north of Doha. Baladna is the closest thing I found in Qatar to the traditional farms that populate other countries. It is the only place in the country, where you can experience what life is like on a busy commercial farm. Baladna Farm is a 100% Qatari farm offering a diverse range of experiences for its visitors.
Food
Baladna Food Industries is a 100% Qatari establishment. It was created to stand out in being self-sufficient to fulfill the country’s demands of dairy and meat products. Baladna products such as milk, cheese, and yogurt are now quite popular among people for its quality and are available through shopping Malls and others supermarkets. Baladna premium restaurant in the visitor's zone on the farm offers traditional Arabian cuisine.
Entertainment
Baladna farm is an innovative concept of visitor park and a small zoo is hosted by the company on the farm in Al Khor. It offers a lot of entertainment, activities and shops. Visitors can spend up to half a day on the farm. In addition, children could enjoy there, because of the opportunities that the farm offers. For example, they can watch the cows while it is being milked. They can also ride the horses. The Activities there rang from zip wires to bumper boats and children's playground that could keep you occupied for the best part of a day.
Baladna Farms offer a dining experience, masjids, majlises for men and women, and delightful sections filled with cute animals. The farm offers a chance for visitors to bring their family and friends to see plenty of goats, sheep, and lamps. With over 400 employees the farm is well maintained, animals are well cared for, and the farm is clean.According to Baladna website, the cornerstone value of the farm is freshness and high nutritional value. Animals are milked every day; the environment is clean and, believe it or not, it does not smell like animals.
